Blenman Home

Ashley’s kids have attended Blenman since 2021, when the oldest started preschool. It worked out because the midtown school is so close to their home. Over the last few years, Ashley became so involved with the school that she was repeatedly asked to start up the Parent Teacher Association again, but she felt she wasn’t ready for the responsibility. 

Eventually, someone else took the lead to get the PTA started up again and reorganized, and Ashley took on the President role. 

“I really love doing it because I love doing anything that I can do to give back to the staff here,” Ashley said. 

Now, her kids are in first and second grade. So, Ashley plans to stick around for a while longer. 

Annette comes from a charter teaching background, but had completed her student teaching at Blenman Elementary. So, she went back to where she got her start and has now been at the midtown school for 13 years.  

“My favorite memory from being here, I think, is just my students,” Annette said. “Getting to know my students, building that family culture in my classroom. Also the staff, just being with the staff and building positive relationships with everyone.” 

Although she didn’t previously see herself in a support role, as Annette always wanted to be a teacher, her mindset changed as the years went by. She found herself wanting to do more, so she transitioned to the CSP role. Annette is also an aspiring principal. 

Ivette first came to Blenman Elementary when her child started pre-kinder at the midtown school. A few months after that, she learned of an opening and got a job at the school as a teacher’s assistant – a role she worked for two years. Then she moved over to attendance/registration for three years and is now the office manager for the school. All in all, she’s been working at Blenman for eight years. 

She loves working in the front office and being able to support more people. 

“I love that now I have the opportunity to support not only students, but also their families and the rest of the staff,” Ivette said. “I love helping people. I was born to help people.” 

Her child may have already moved on from Blenman, but Ivette has no plans to leave.
